Love: Two-sided Mystery

Love has two functions towards people, that is to:
1. suffer[negative]
2. comfort[positive]

Comfort means lessening pain. While to suffer means to feel
pain. Which is very contrary to that of the word 'comfort'.
How could such two functions worked in one aspect when they're
opposite to one another? And why was "suffering" associated
with love in the first place? Isn't love supposed to be positive
since its the greatest commandment that God had given which
would put His children into harmony?

Reason:
If love was basically defined as desire, and desires are the
causes of sufferings. Therefore, TO LOVE IS TO SUFFER.
So, to avoid sufferings, one must avoid love. True.

If happiness is to become satisfied. and satisfaction leads
to comfort. Therefore, to be happy is to receive comfort. True.

But then, to love is also to be happy. And to be happy is to
receive comfort. Therefore, TO LOVE IS TO RECEIVE COMFORT.

Moral lesson:
Love suffers, love comforts.
